I love, love, love this pattern. I made a baby blanket using white, yellows and greens. I have no idea what my brother and his wife are having --that will be arriving in November.
Thank you for making it so easy.

  2. You are so welcome Gayle - I'm glad you thought the pattern was easy to work up. That was the plan after all. :) I hope all goes well with the new little one and that they love their pretty new Happy Stripes Blanket made with love from Aunt Gayle. :)

  3. Hi . I was just looking over the pattern and don't know where the strips come in? It looks to me that each square is a different color but no strips. Could you help me understand this? Thank you Diana, MI

    1. Hi there! The Bernat Baby Coordinates Sweet Stripes yarn is a self-striping yarn, so no color changes needed. You might also be able to find other self-striping yarn that would work, too. Just use your imagination. Another great thing about this pattern is that it is totally reversible. Thanks for asking. Melinda

  4. I think I see the same thing, I think she forgot to mention switching colors to create the stripes. Unless the yarn she has is a multi-colored yarn? Not sure.

  5. This pattern uses a type of yarn that is discontinued. I wish I could find out how many feet or yards the colors charge to be able to get the same effect. I emailed Bernat and they say that they don't know. Does anyone know any specifics?

    1. Bernat is recommending Bernat Baby Coordinates yarn as a substitute. You could also look at Mary Maxim's Sugar Baby Stripes yarn, as the color change seems to be very similar to my original yarn. I'm sorry that the original yarn has been discontinued, as I designed this pattern 4 years ago. Let me know which yarn you choose and how it works out so that I can make a recommendation on the pattern. Thanks!!!

  6. Isn't this basket weave, worked off a single square? Ultimately one piece, work stripes of square 2 perpendicular(90 degree angle) to first square's stripes?

    1. There are 16 separate squares, all worked the same. Then I turned them when joining to create the basket weave effect.

  8. I just adore this. The pattern is nice and easy and the brightness of the colors really make this blanket stand out. I love the colors you have chosen. My granddaughter just had twins, so I am going to make two. One in the colors shown and one just slightly different (only because she doesn't want her twins dressed alike or I would do both the same). Great pattern thanks.
