Katharine's Rose - 12" Square

My Katharine's Rose square is up and running now. It's a really nice square and would make a beautiful afghan. I hope I can top this with my next square. I'm busy working on the Hello Kitty afghan right now, but I just might take some time away to start designing another square. I've got the bug again and I might as well just go with it. As long as I get the afghan done for Christmas! :) I had to frog the first square I made yesterday and redo the last 3 rounds. I have to get two squares out of one teal skein, so it was a little hit and miss. But at least now I know what to do. That's the way designing is. You kiss a lot of frogs (by frogging) and then when you get the FO, you get to kiss the prince.

I think the Katharine's Rose square is one heck of a prince and was very fun to design. I hope you enjoy making it.

This pattern is dedicated to my beautiful granddaughter Katharine. She is wearing a rose from a 100+ year old rose bush planted by my great-grandmother when my grandmother's infant sister died.

  1. Hi. That is a beautiful square :) I have made 8 so far because I want to make it into a blanket. I was wondering if you could help me please? I want to make squares of just the yellow cable stitch and I cannot for the life of me think of how to start it. I've tried a few times and I can't get it to be the same amount of stitches as to where we start the cable stitch on the rose version, so they're the same size. Would you be able to help me please? I have seen how to make just lines of cable stitches without going in a granny square, but it looks a bit odd! Thank you in anticipation :) Vicky.
