Ravelympics - Team Flaming Hooks

As I have mentioned before, I am a member of the online knit/crochet community called Ravelry. Ravelry is participating in it's own version of the 2010 Olympics called the Ravelympics. One of the groups I have joined is the Crochet Liberation Front, and our Ravelympic team is called the Flaming Hooks. You choose an event (knit or crochet) and work that project to the finish line. It's so much fun to do while watching the real Olympics.

My category is the Designer Biathlon. I must design and publish a pattern within the Olympic time frame. I have actually designed two already. They are both in the testing stage. They are 12” squares, because I have always loved to work squares for afghans and I know that there are so many of you who do also. Squares are such fun, portable projects – I can't get enough! Or design enough. :)

Anyway, today I will present to you the two prototypes. Now mind you, they are just prototypes done in one color; but this is how I work. I have this gold yarn that I use when designing. It's very pliable and holds up well after being frogged a million times. :) I actually got it a few years ago from a Herrschners afghan kit that I never worked up. That yarn has been very useful. :)

So here is square #1: FLOATING MEDALLIONS

Square #2: STARFIRE

Patterns to be published soon – when I cross the finish line. Go Team Flaming Hooks! Wish me luck! And don't forget to cast your vote and NAME THE SQUARE.

  1. I love both of these and can't wait till the pattern is written. The top one I have done this stitch and it is very interesting. I think it looks like a Calla Lily. The bottom one is like a spring flower and is a real beauty.
